Saint Amand Montrond

Saint Amand Montrond is one of the main towns in the Cher department. The town was built in the basin in the eastern banks of the Cher river. But the settlement of Saint-Amand goes back to prehistoric times.

A commune located just a few kilometres north-west of Saint-Amand, claims to be the geographical centre of France.

Since 1985, the town has been twinned with Riobamba, in Ecuador (province of Chimborazo), and is the only French city to have such a twinning-partnership with Ecuador.
