Lignieres De Touraine

Lignieres de Touraine is a little village in the valley of the river Loire, in the Indre et Loire section of the regional natural park of Loire-Anjou-Touraine. But it is also the second most productive commune in the whole Touraine area in terms of fruit.

Around the village are 310 hectares of orchards, and one can try the different apples at the cooperative in the village.

It may be that at Lignieres the apple has been important for a long time - in the village church, there are 13th century wall-paintings showing the temptation of Adam by Eve - with, of course, an apple!
